Refused or banned? Here’s who to talk to.
If a venue using Okayd has refused you entry or told you that you’re banned, start with that venue’s management. For your personal information, talk to us.
Why have I been banned?
Okayd helps venue teams check IDs and keep records. The record in the app can’t explain every reason behind a venue’s decision. Contact the venue’s management team to ask what was decided and why.
Can Okayd remove my ban?
A request to reconsider a ban goes to the venue that issued it. Contacting Okayd doesn’t lift a ban or give permission to enter. If you think a record is wrong or there’s a technical problem, you can contact us too.
How long does it last, and which venues does it cover?
Ask the venue that issued it. A ban at one venue can cover the other venues in the same business. A shared safety alert doesn’t mean every venue on Okayd has banned you.
How do I ask for a review?
Contact the venue’s management team with the venue name, the date and time, and what you’d like reviewed. Asking doesn’t guarantee a ban will be removed.
What if the record is wrong or about someone else?
Tell the venue straight away. For a concern about personal information held through Okayd, email [email protected]. Please don’t send ID photos or numbers in your first email.
Are bans, watch lists and trespass notices the same?
No. A ban is about entry. A watch list flags someone for staff attention and isn’t a ban on its own. A trespass notice is a separate legal matter; see New Zealand Police guidance.
Can I see or correct my personal information?
Yes. You can ask for the information held about you and ask for corrections, under the Privacy Act 2020. Email [email protected], or ask the venue directly. We may need to confirm who you are first.
This page doesn’t offer a public ban search or show anyone’s records. Read the privacy policy.
